TANDEM SNOWMOBILE
Where It All Started
Freestyle mountain biking is not the only sport that gives me an adrenaline rush. I am constantly looking for new challenges and opportunities to push my limits. Discovering unique and exotic action sports has become a passion of mine, and tandem freestyle snowmobiling quickly became one of the most exciting experiences of my life.
In 2023, I met Jason Sesco in Vigo di Cadore, Italy, where we prepared for my very first tandem freestyle snowmobile jump. Despite the fact that I had never jumped anything powered by an engine before, I felt completely calm. There were no nerves, no doubts, and no hesitation. The moment I stepped onto the snowmobile, I knew this was something special.
Our first jump covered a distance of 16 meters. As soon as we left the takeoff and flew through the air, I experienced a feeling unlike anything I had ever felt before. The combination of speed, power, height, and trust between rider and passenger was incredible. It felt natural, as if I had been doing it my entire life.
What made the experience even more remarkable was how quickly we progressed. On the very same day, Jason and I were already attempting our first tricks. The possibilities seemed endless, and with every jump we became more motivated to explore what could be achieved on a tandem freestyle snowmobile.
Night of Freestyle 2023 Hamburg
Later that year, we had the opportunity to showcase our skills at the Night of Freestyle Hamburg 2023. Performing in front of a sold-out arena with more than 8,000 spectators was an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere was electric from the very first jump. Every trick, every landing, and every moment in the air was met with cheers from the crowd.
The audience response exceeded all expectations. The fans embraced our performance, and together we created one of the highlights of the evening. At the end of the event, our show was rewarded with the "Best Entertainment" trophy, making the experience even more memorable.
A New Era of Freestyle Begins
Since then, Jason and I have continued to develop and refine tandem freestyle snowmobiling. Every year we dedicate countless hours to training, experimenting, and perfecting new techniques. Our goal is not only to improve our performance but also to push the boundaries of what is considered possible on a snowmobile.
We are constantly working on innovative tricks that have never been performed before, combining creativity, precision, and commitment. For us, tandem freestyle snowmobiling is more than just a sport—it's an opportunity to explore the unknown, challenge expectations, and inspire people through action sports.
The journey is only beginning, and we are excited to see how far we can take this unique discipline in the years to come.
FREESTYLE SIDECAR
As the first freestyle sidecar duo, Jason van Daele and I brought freestyle sidecar riding to life in a small town in Belgium. What started as an ambitious idea quickly turned into an exciting challenge, as we explored a discipline that very few people had ever attempted. Our goal was not only to push our own limits but also to show what was possible with a freestyle sidecar.
Together, we spent countless hours training and developing new skills. Every session brought us one step closer to mastering tricks such as the Indian Air, Hard Attack, and Superman. Just like freestyle snowmobiling, the feeling of launching into the air was incredible. The combination of speed, height, and adrenaline made every jump unforgettable, while landing a new trick after weeks of practice was an unmatched reward.
Unlike a snowmobile, however, a sidecar presents a completely different challenge. Its unbalanced design makes it much harder to control once the wheels leave the ground. Every jump requires precise timing, communication, and complete trust in both the rider and the machine. Even the smallest mistake can change the way the sidecar behaves in the air, making every trick far more demanding than it looks.
Through determination, patience, and countless practice sessions, we gradually learned how to control the heavy machine with confidence. As our skills improved, so did our trust in one another. That trust became the foundation of every jump, allowing me to develop the confidence, timing, and body control needed to perform increasingly difficult tricks safely and consistently.
Looking back, being part of the first freestyle sidecar duo was an unforgettable experience. It was more than just learning tricks—it was about creating something new, overcoming challenges together, and proving that with dedication and teamwork, even the most unlikely ideas can become reality.
